China, Russia, Iran Dumping Dollar for Gold

Something is going on that your government does not want you to know about. Very few journalists have written about it and little or nothing has appeared in the mainstream media. The story could be one of major stories of our time.
Western powers have tried to destroy gold as a backing for currencies for many years. Presently the major media won’t touch the story and that is understandable.
Something we have been writing about for years is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization known as SCO. Few have been listening and few have been interested in what their mission is and what they have been up to.
Some of the members are large oil producers and some, like China, are large oil users. Some have very large US dollar surpluses. As well, some are large commodity and gold and silver buyers. In fact, members are in a great part responsible for driving these prices higher. It is debatable, but we believe there is a conscious effort to accumulate gold and silver, dump dollars and to back their currencies with gold.
China and Russia are both large gold producers and for a number of years have been buying up domestic gold and silver production, so that it never reaches the market and does not affect prices. If anything the absence of sales tends to push the markets higher. As a matter of fact Russia and India are visible buyers. Even Iran with its oil surplus recently announced that they had purchased 340 tons of gold. Their recent gold purchases are very significant as affiliate members, which have access to the present and ultimate direction of the group. You might say buying gold has been a protective effort to shield members and close observers from the problems generated by dollar policies. They are accumulating gold, as many have been worldwide, for the past ten years, but particularly over the past few years.
This buying, for protection, has served to thwart the efforts of US policymakers, the Treasury, other central banks in Europe and the Fed, from being able to continue the blatant suppression of both gold and silver prices. The malefactors, except for forays into derivatives and futures, which are transitory, have lost control and suppression of gold and silver prices, and it is only a matter of time before all visages of any control will be visible. Since 1988, in August when Present Reagan signed the Executive Order creating, “the President’s Group on Financial Markets” and the subsidiaries that have grown out of that policy, that the Treasury won many if not most of the battles. The SCO in part changed that and now they and the public are winning the war for a fair and free gold and silver market. The current class action lawsuits, including RICO, are a testament to the market manipulation in silver, which is finally coming to an end. HSBC and JPMorgan Chase, the latter that is the major owner of the Fed, are going to be finally prohibited from rigging these markets. Their officers all belong in jail, but elitists never go to jail; they pay fines, and keep right on robbing the public.
Other SCO members and observers are accumulating gold as well, be it in smaller amounts. We might add that other nations observing Russia and China and their gold purchases are buying as well. These participants must believe that there could be a return to sound money; otherwise they wouldn’t be gold buyers. Buying gold is certainly preferable to holding US dollars, which have consistently fallen in value versus other currencies over the past ten years. Then again all currencies have fallen versus gold over that period, some 19.6% annually. It is nice to see nations are finally waking up to the reality that fiat currencies will all over time deteriorate versus gold. The temptation is enormous to deficit spend.
The most interesting aspect of the SCO is that they do not strive for political agreement such as the European Union. They are interested in economic stability and development and security. There is no overall binding laws. Nations retain their sovereignty, which is the exact opposite of what the elitists in the US and Europe desire, and that is world government. The SCO has provided great flexibility something that is non-existent in elitist controlled countries. Another interesting facet is that the SCO probably represents half of the world’ population, far more than the US and Europe. As these nations accumulate gold so does some of their citizens, which puts strong upward pressures on gold prices on a continuing basis.
In addition some of these nations, such as China, are spending dollars by buying natural resources and other things in other nations in an attempt to relieve themselves of excess dollars earned in trade. Both Russia and China fully realize that the US dollar is in serious trouble and has been for a number of years due to fiscal debt and the unbridled creation of money and credit by the Federal Reserve. They well know the dollar is in serious trouble and what the outcome will probably be.
As the economies of the US and Europe become more deeply mired in problems the economies of SCO nations more and more resemble the free economies of old that were very successful. You might say they have found their way back to basics and sound money. As the dollar comes under further downward pressure more nations will probably join the SCO to escape the clutches of European and American imperialism and bureaucracy, which for some years has been onerous and unsuccessful. What we see is a natural path by nations to extricate themselves from the control of Wall Street and the City of London, which have dominated the world for so long. All these facts considered we believe gold will find its way substantially higher with the participation of these nations, a factor the West never figured on. These ten nations are sucking excess gold out of the market every day and that will continue indefinitely.
These SCO nations are well aware that the surge of hot dollars created by the Fed out of thin air are headed their way and with them inflation. Brazil was the first nation to attempt to stop this onslaught by imposing a 6% tariff on interest and dividend paying Brazilian securities, purchased with US dollars. Over the last two years between stimulus and the Fed $2.5 trillion has been injected into the US and world financial system. As a result commodity and gold and silver prices have exploded. This has caused the dollar to fall in value versus other currencies and gold. There is no question more and higher inflation is on the way, as the Fed gets into QE 2. You can also bet that QE2 will not be $600 billion, but more than $2 trillion. Inflation is already showing up in food, petroleum products, airline fares and in many other items that we use every day. As usual the government says there is little or no inflation. Even competent economists still use government’s bogus figures. What can they be thinking of? They know what is going on as well as we do. That means we are embarking on the highest inflation rates in US history. Thus far the undertow of deflation has been superseded by government banking and Fed aggregate creation. The Fed, in order to subdue deflation and such spending has to always overshoot the inflation they create, so that they can be sure that deflation cannot take hold. This money and credit is in the process of working its way through the economy, spreading inflation as it winds its way through.
The only investors who are being afforded protection are those who have invested in gold and silver and commodities. That is less than 2% of the American population. We predicted in mid-May that QE2 and QE3 would take place for a combined $5 trillion over the next two fiscal years. In fact, the Fed was late in starting in June and as a result 4th quarter GDP growth will probably be 1% and the 1st quarter of 2011 will probably be in the minus column, as unemployment heads to 25% and extended benefits run out. We are not seeing growth; we are seeing forced feeding.
The Fed’s promises are not worth the paper they are written on. Ben Bernanke will print money until he cannot anymore and we have hyperinflation. That is because he has no other choice. He has no way out and he knows it won’t work. Tragically, this is where we are headed and there is no way to stop what the elitists have put deliberately in motion.
As long as quantitative easing is official Fed and Wall Street policy, gold is going to continue to rise with silver, and the stronger the case is that gold is the real world reserve currency. That means all currencies will eventually have to be backed by gold. We believe that elitists have accepted this fact and that was borne out recently by World Bank President, CFR, Trilateralist and Bilderberger Robert Zoellick. We can assure you that was no slip of the tongue. That was a cleverly planted trial balloon to get public reaction.

Passive smoking kills 600,000 a year, including 165,000 children, says WHO

Estimates from the first analysis of the true global picture say biggest impact is on young in the developing world

Report6 says only 7.4% of the world’s population live in countries with laws to prevent smoking in public places Photograph: Graham Turner for the Guardian
More than 600,000 people, including 165,000 children, die every year from passive smoking, a report from World Health Organization experts says today.
The estimates from the first analysis of the true global toll are based on the best available data across 192 countries and the known effects of exposure.
The biggest impact on children is in the developing world. "Two-thirds of these deaths occur in Africa and south Asia," the authors write in the medical journal The Lancet. "Children's exposure to second-hand smoke most likely happens at home.
"The combination of infectious diseases and tobacco seems to be a deadly combination for children in these regions and might hamper the efforts to reduce the mortality rate for those aged younger than five years as sought by Millennium Development Goal 4 [to reduce the mortality rate among the under fives by two thirds ]."
In 2004, the most recent year with comprehensive data, passive smoking is estimated to have caused an estimated 379,000 deaths from ischemic heart disease, 165,000 from lower respiratory infections, 36,900 from asthma and 21,400 from lung cancer - around 1% of deaths worldwide.
Women die in larger proportions than men or children - 47% against 28% in children and 26% in men. Fewer women smoke than men and they are more likely to be exposed to second-hand smoke.
Children are unable to escape second-hand smoke at home. They are more likely than adults to suffer health damage from passive smoking, such as asthma or breathing problems.
The authors, most of whom work for the WHO's Tobacco Free Initiative, point out that only 7.4% of the world's population live in countries with laws to prevent smoking in public places - which safeguard non-smokers and send out strong messages about the dangers and anti-social nature of cigarettes. They recommend immediate enforcement of WHO's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which includes higher tobacco taxes, plain packaging and advertising bans.
To protect women and children, they say that education campaigns on the dangers of indoor smoking are needed.
In a commentary, Dr Heather Wipfli and Dr Jonathan Samet from the department of preventive medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, say the research shows the crucial need to empower women, especially in countries where smoking among men is increasing.
"If empowered, women can have a key role in protecting themselves, their children and other family members from this exposure," they write, calling for gender-sensitive education programs and encouragement to women to take leadership roles in health.

Pakistan’s self-defeating Kashmir policy

On September 12, this newspaper reported the findings of a poll conducted in Indian-occupied Kashmir. Sixty-six per cent of respondents wanted ‘complete freedom to entire Jammu and Kashmir as a new country’. Only six per cent wanted a ‘complete merger of the entire Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan’.
It seems a majority of Muslims in Kashmir would favour independence rather than merger with either India or Pakistan. Pakistan’s implicit stance since 1947 has been that Kashmiris don’t want to be a part of India. It seems now they don’t want to be a part of Pakistan either. With Pakistan the state it is in, who would volunteer to become a Pakistani?
Also, had India allowed Kashmiris to govern their own lives, it might have presented Pakistan with a fait accompli by now. Instead, Kashmiris have been force-fed a steady diet of repression administered by India’s half a million troops stationed in the Valley. Since the start of the first Kashmir insurgency in 1989, some 40,000 civilians have been killed according to the Indian army itself; 100,000 according to the Kashmiri Hurriyat Conference. There have been thousands of cases of rape, torture and summary detention. The most recent uprising in the Kashmir valley has claimed the lives of over a hundred protesters, many of them teenagers. But what has Pakistan done to help the cause? It has consistently attempted to keep the Kashmir issue alive at the UN and other international forums, reminding the world that Kashmiris have never accepted India’s unilateral annexation. However, since 1989, the main plank in Pakistan’s Kashmir policy has been to train militants for infiltration into Indian occupied Kashmir. None other than the Great Commando has admitted this, the man who ruled Pakistan for nine years. Musharraf justified the policy as a logical response to India’s unwillingness to “discuss Kashmir at the UN and to resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner.” But has the policy of sponsoring jihad in Kashmir brought India closer to accepting a peaceable resolution of the dispute?  History would suggest it has allowed India to do the exact opposite — divert international attention from genuine Kashmiri aspirations by labelling all acts of resistance as Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. After 9/11, the international community has little patience for the nuance between freedom fighter and terrorist.
Pakistan has a moral obligation to support the Kashmiri people even if they choose a future other than Pakistan. It should make this the declared crux of its Kashmir policy, rather than militancy or territorial ambition. By permanently abandoning all military options, conventional and otherwise, Pakistan will place itself on the unassailable moral high ground. It will also allow our state to divert resources towards internal development. An economically strong Pakistan that has gained the trust of the international community could do far more for the Kashmiri cause than a self-defeating jihad.

Asif Zardari faces being engulfed in Pakistan corruption scandal

Asif Zardari, Pakistan's president, faces being engulfed in a damaging corruption scandal which threatens to distract the country from its battle with the Taliban.
The Pakistani leader and members of his fragile pro-Western government will be hit by a string of criminal allegations when an amnesty protecting high-ranking politicians expires on Saturday.
Hundreds of court cases could be revived just as the nuclear-armed government battles a stubborn Taliban insurgency.
The publication of a list of more than 8,000 politicians covered by the amnesty has disclosed it covers bureaucrats, senior ministers and ambassadors who are charged with offences ranging from murder to embezzlement.

The Supreme Court has ruled the amnesty on charges dating back to the 1990s, which was introduced in 2007, will end on Saturday.
Mr Zardari is himself on the list but is protected from prosecution by presidential immunity.
However some lawyers believe they could prove him unfit for office and cases could be renewed against allies including Rehman Malik, interior minister.
The end of the amnesty has alarmed the West which fears lengthy politically-motivated trials could distract their key ally in Islamabad from the Pakistani army's war with the Taliban in Waziristan.
Mr Zardari has become a critical part of Western efforts to defeat the militants and hunt al-Qaeda in the borderlands of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The amnesty was introduced through a decree by former President Pervez Musharraf in 2007 under a plan to share power with Mr Zardari's wife and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
Mr Zardari gained the nickname "Mr Ten Percent" from accusations he received kickbacks while awarding lucrative contracts during his wife's two stints in office in the 1990s.
He spent years in jail on the charges, and while he was never convicted, the allegations have continued to pursue him.
The 8,000 names on the list are dominated by politicians from the ruling Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) and its coalition partner Muttahida Quami Movement.
Mr Zardari's supporters believe the publication of the list of names and successful challenge of the amnesty is a military backed plot to oust him.
In a speech this week, Mr Zardari said that: "We are not afraid of conspiracies", adding that "it is the right of the PPP government to complete its term".
Despite presidential immunity, some lawyers have argued Mr Zardari is not protected from charges stemming from the period before he took office.
Even if his immunity protects him, the regurgitation of old corruption allegations will add greatly to the political pressure on him to step down.
To try to placate his critics, Zardari may be forced to give up most of his powers to the prime minister.
Arif Nizami, a political analyst, said: "It seems sometimes like a witch-hunt," he said "Zardari is perceived as too dependent or too pro the United States, and sometimes not quite in agreement with the strategic view of the army."
Several court petitions are prepared, including cases against Mr Zardari's right to be president and lawsuits that will test the limits of presidential immunity.
One lawsuit will even challenge the president's mental health – another ground for removal from office.
AK Dogar, a lawyer preparing to sue the president, said: "The president is not protected for his personal actions, only for whatever he does through the office of president.
"The idea of anyone being above the law is wrong."

2010 so far "tied for hottest year"

(Reuters) - This year is so far tied for the hottest year in a temperature record dating back to 1850 in a new sign of a warming trend, the three major institutes which calculate global warming estimates told Reuters.
U.N. climate talks resume next week in Cancun, Mexico, where expectations are no longer for a comprehensive deal to slow warming, but smaller progress for example to curb deforestation, in a bid to agree a pact next year or later.
The previous conference in Copenhagen last year fell short of hopes, but about 140 countries have agreed a non-binding deal to try and limit warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures are now about 0.8 degrees above pre-industrial levels, and 2010 is about 0.5 degrees above the 1961-1990 average, near the record, with two months data still to collect.
Even with a possible cool end to the year, 2010 is expected to be no lower than third in a record where 1998 and 2005 are warmest. The U.N. panel of climate scientists says higher temperatures mean more floods, heatwaves and rising sea levels.
"I think it's too close to call. Based on these numbers it'll be second, but it depends on how warm November and December are," said Phil Jones, director of Britain's Climatic Research Unit (CRU), at the University of East Anglia, which says 1998 was the record year so far.
By contrast, scientists at the U.S. space agency NASA say that surface temperatures through October were above the previous record year, which it says was 2005. Differences between years are only a few hundredths of a degree.
"I would not be surprised if most or all groups found that 2010 was tied for the warmest year," said NASA's James Hansen.
And the U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, said that 2010 was a "dead-heat" for the record.
"Our data show 2010 being virtually tied with 1998, through October," said Deke Arndt, from NCDC.
The three institutes use similar observations, but in slightly different ways. For example, NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) takes greater account of Arctic weather staions, where warming has been fastest.

SCEPTIC
Some sceptics have argued that because the last temperature peak was in 2005 or 1998, that global warming must have stalled.
Most scientists reject that view, saying that whether or not 2010 is the hottest year is less important than the long-term trend, which is up, due to manmade greenhouse gas emissions. The period 2000-2009 was the warmest decade on record.
Scientists also point to natural variation, and in particular the El Nino Pacific weather phenomenon associated with warm weather worldwide. 1998 was a strong El Nino year.
"The trend is overwhelming, particularly over the past 50 years," said Rajendra Pachauri, head of the U.N. panel of climate scientists.
"I wouldn't read these numbers for a particular year as very compelling, we have to take a historical view," he told Reuters.
In one of the biggest bets on climate change, James Annan, a climate scientist at the Frontier Research Center for Global Change in Japan, has a $10,000 wager made in 2005 with two Russian solar physicists who are sceptical about global warming.
He will win if average world temperatures are higher from 2012-17 than they were from 1998-2003. "Things are progressing smoothly," he said.
The U.N.'s World Meteorological Organisation will publish an estimate on Dec. 2 of where 2010 ranks. It compiles data from a wider range of sources, both measured temperatures and climate models. It lists 1998 and 2005 as the warmest years.
"We have indications that it would match one of the three warmest years," said Omar Baddour, head of climate data management operations at in Geneva.

Former CIA Officials Admit To Faking Bin Laden Video

Two former CIA officials have admitted to creating a fake video in which intelligence officers dressed up as Osama Bin Laden and his cronies in an effort to defame the terrorist leader throughout the middle east.
The details are outlined in a Washington Post article by investigative reporter and former Army Intelligence case officer Jeff Stein.

Stein’s sources told him that during planning for the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the CIA’s Iraq Operations Group considered creating a fake video of Saddam Hussein engaged in sexual acts with a teenage boy, then flooding Iraq with copies of the tape.

That idea, along with faking Iraqi news bulletins, never came to fruition according to the former CIA officials, because agreement on the projects could not be reached between the Iraq Group and CIA’s Office of Technical Services.
However, the two sources reveal that the agency did previously concoct at least one fake Bin Laden video:
The agency actually did make a video purporting to show Osama bin Laden and his cronies sitting around a campfire swigging bottles of liquor and savoring their conquests with boys, one of the former CIA officers recalled, chuckling at the memory. The actors were drawn from “some of us darker-skinned employees,” he said.
The former officials told Stein that the project was taken over by the military after it ground to a halt:
The reality, the former officials said, was that the agency really didn’t have enough money and expertise to carry out the projects.
“The military took them over,” said one. “They had assets in psy-war down at Ft. Bragg,” at the army’s special warfare center.
This latest revelation bolsters evidence that the intelligence agencies, and perhaps more significantly, the military have been engaged in creating fake Bin Laden videos in the past.
As we have exhaustively documented, Intel center, the U.S. monitoring group that routinely releases Bin Laden video and audio, much of which have been proven to be either rehashed old footage or outright fakes, is an offshoot of IDEFENSE, a web security company that monitors intelligence from the middle east.

IDEFENSE is heavily populated by long serving ex military intelligence officials, such as senior military psy-op intelligence officer Jim Melnick, who served 16 years in the US army and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in psychological operations. Melnick has also worked directly for former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
Intel center notoriously released the “laughing hijackers” tape and claimed it was an Al-Qaeda video, despite the fact that the footage was obtained by a “security agency” at a 2000 Bin Laden speech.
Intel Center was also caught adding its logo to a tape at the same time as Al-Qaeda’s so-called media arm As-Sahab added its logo, proving the two organizations were one and the same.
Could the CIA group of “dark skinned actors” have been behind the infamous December 2001 “Fat nosed” Bin Laden video, that was magically found in a house in Jalalabad after anti-Taliban forces moved in?
The tape featured a fat Osama laughing and joking about how he’d carried out 9/11. The video was also mistranslated in order to manipulate viewer opinion and featured “Bin Laden” praising two of the hijackers, only he got their names wrong. This Osama also used the wrong hand to write with and wore gold rings, a practice totally in opposition to the Muslim faith.

Despite the fact that the man in the video looks nothing like Bin Laden, the CIA stood by it and declared it to be the official “9/11 confession video”.
The latest revelations also shed light on another past Bin Laden release – a tape in which he ludicrously declared himself in league with Saddam Hussein in the weeks before the invasion of Iraq.

The notion that the CIA project was taken over and drastically improved by the Pentagon at some point after 2003 jives with the improvement in quality of Bin Laden videos in later years. Most notably the video that was released immediately ahead of the 2004 election, and it’s digitally manipulated duplicate from 2007, in which Bin Laden appeared to have a dyed beard.
For a run down of some of the most notoriously dubious Bin Laden videos see the following article.
